LinkedIn Engagement Rate Calculator
LinkedIn engagement rate is reactions, comments and reposts divided by impressions. Enter a post's numbers to get its rate and see how it compares with the 2026 average for its format.
Add saves, sends and link clicks (optional)
How it's calculated
Engagement rate = (reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ impressions × 100. It's the definition the published averages use, so the comparison is fair. Saves, sends and link clicks give a wider figure, shown separately when you add them.
Format changes what's normal. Carousels and video average well above text posts, and polls far below. Judge a post against its own format, not against your best post ever. All the figures and their sources are on our LinkedIn engagement benchmarks page.
Before you post the next one, run it through the LinkedIn AI post checker or the post analyser.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate LinkedIn engagement rate?+
Add reactions, comments and reposts, divide by impressions, and multiply by 100. A post with 1,000 impressions, 20 reactions, 8 comments and 2 reposts has a 3% engagement rate. That's the definition the benchmark figures on this page use, so compare like with like.
What is a good engagement rate on LinkedIn?+
It depends on the format. In Richard van der Blom's 2026 research across 1.3 million posts, document carousels average about 6.6%, native video 5.6%, image posts 3.2% and text-only posts 2.0%. For long text posts (1,301 to 2,500 characters), AuthoredUp's analysis of 372,126 posts found a median of 2.61-2.67%. Above the average for your format is a good result.
Should saves, sends and link clicks count?+
Some tools count them, which gives a higher rate that isn't comparable with the published averages. This calculator shows both: the standard rate, which it compares with the benchmarks, and a wider rate including saves, sends and clicks if you enter them. Saves and sends are worth watching on their own: they show a post was worth keeping or passing on.
Where do I find these numbers?+
Open your post on LinkedIn and select the analytics link under it. LinkedIn shows impressions, reactions, comments and reposts there, and saves and sends for newer posts. Use the post's totals, not your profile's.
Is anything I enter saved or sent?+
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing you enter leaves the page.
